How To Choose Baby Strollers

There are so many choices in baby strollers these days it’s difficult to know where to start. I mean if you are a new parent and you are looking for a great way to transport your new infant then its going to be be of paramount importance that you find one that suits your lifestyle. The truth is, your child is going to be safe and comfortable in most any stroller you choose. They are all pretty  good that way.

Bassinet Or Car Seat Until She Can Sit Up

It’s important when you are looking are looking at stroller that you understand a couple of things. First, your child should not try to ride upright in a stroller before he can sit up really well. If your child isn’t at that stage yet, the you either need to carry her or make sure the stroller you select comes with a bassinet. If it folds down completely flat that also works, but a bassinet is best.

A carseat adapter is great, but you shouldn’t have your child constantly strapped into the carseat in the stroller. Studies show that your child can potentially suffer from asphyxiation if they are always sleeping the car seat. It’s rare, but why take a chance?  If your child is going to be sitting up or toddling when you buy a stroller, you can eliminate the bassinet from the equation.

Big Seats
It’s very important that your stroller have good size seats. So many of them that are made forget that children will casually use a stroller until they are at least three sometimes even four. They don’t use them constantly but when their little legs get tired, it’s nice to be able to let them stroll and take a break.

Adjustable Seat Belts
This is also an important feature. Make sure the seat belts on your stroller can be adjust to two or three positions. Why? Because, yes, your child will grow, but also, you if have more than one child, odds are they will be different sizes right out of the gate. This is especially true if one is a boy and one is a girl. Our little guy was much bigger then our first girl, no doubt it.

Big Wheels
I’m personally a fan of big wheels, especially on the rear. It makes handling the stroller much easier.  Bigger wheels handle unsteady conditions underfoot. It means gravel and sand are less of  a problem. It’s very difficult to push a small wheeled stroller through either one.

Locking Swivel Wheels

Another key maneuverability feature is the front wheel swivel lock. Swiveling front wheels are great for the mall. But on an uneven sidewalk or a snow filled parking lot, flipping that lock on can make pushing the strolly much easier.
